Every year the government of Turkey announces various scholarship programs under the different disciplines for international students. The purpose of these scholarships is to educate all the underprivileged yet deserving candidates. Additionally, to maintain friendly bonds with other nations. But to apply for any Turkey scholarship program, one has to comply with the stated eligibility criteria.

Similarly, a set of required documents is also obligatory to submit with the application form. These documents play a significant role in the selection process of a candidate, like a Statement of purpose, an Intent letter, and Letter of Recommendation, etc. However, the recommendation letter convinces the admission committee by describing the candidate’s qualities, mentioned by a teacher in the letter.

Recommendation Letter:

It is a letter written by a teacher, counselor, or academic director to the admission committee. Here, a teacher recommends the students for the applied scholarship by describing the qualities, skills, and potentials needed to comply with the degree program.

Who is eligible to write a Recommendation Letter?

When it comes to writing a recommendation letter, commonly, a professor or mentor does this job. But it also depends upon the scholarship program and its criteria. Other than these two, an athlete coach or academic supervisor can also write it.

It does not matter who writes this letter of recommendation. The only thing that matters is its authenticity and construction. The recommendation letter must be brief and explain the student’s capabilities, diligence, and skills impressively in a maximum of 300 to 400 words. Hence, always choose a teacher who knows your inner strengths and talents.

Parts of a Recommendation Letter:

It is consist of four parts;

  1. Letterhead.
  2. Introduction.
  3. Body.
  4. Conclusion.

Letterhead section:

From the top left corner, mention;

  • Date.
  • Name and Title.
  • School name.
  • Street address.
  • Sate.
  • City.
  • Zip Code.
  • Contact number (optional).

Introduction:

  • Appropriately introduce the candidate.
  • State the reason for writing a recommendation letter.
  • Mention the relation with the candidate.
  • State your (teacher’s) qualifications and position.
  • Make it short (three to four lines maximum) but impactful.

Body:

  • Discuss the candidate’s potential, qualities, academic achievements, and scholarship suitability.
  • Try to avoid a casual tone.

Conclusion:

In the end, conclude your recommendation letter on a positive and happy note with gratitude.
